As MindMatters, we believe that mental health resources must be accessible and affordable to all. For people who are concerned that they might be clinically depressed or anxious, professional help is unfortunately neither easily accessible nor affordable. Consider a person experiencing some level of depression in NYC: A visit to a psychiatrist can easily cost $300/hr. and the treatment has not even started yet. In addition, under the debilitating effects of depression, it is not easy for the depressed to muster the energy and commitment to select and make an appointment with a doctor.
This is an important problem to address. Many depression cases go undiagnosed every year because of the scenario above leaving, hundreds of thousands of people suffering unnecessarily while diagnosis and effective treatments are available. To help improve this situation, we’ve developed a set of tools that will allow patients to take the initial steps in diagnosis at the privacy of their homes by using self-administered questionnaires that are widely used by mental health professionals.
Depression Test (PHQ-9)
The Depression Test is a powerful tool to diagnose depression and monitor treatment response. The test questions are based on Patient Healthcare Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9, the most widely used and trusted questionnaire among mental health professionals. The test can be self-administered.
Our Depression Test app is the oldest and most downloaded PHQ-9 screener on Apple’s App Store. You can find the link to our app below:

ADHD Test (Adult)
The ADHD ASRS Test is an easy to use, self-reported questionnaire measuring the symptoms of “attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder” (ADHD) in adults. The quick ADHD screening test includes 6 questions which are found to be the most predictive of symptoms consistent with ADHD. This quiz is adapted from the 18-question symptom checklist developed in conjunction with the World Health Organization and researchers from New York University and Harvard Medical School leading the Workgroup on Adult ADHD. The test can be self-administered.
